Greetings Rattlers!

The Office of Financial Aid is committed to assisting students in meeting the cost of a college education at Florida A&M University. One of the best resources available to help assist is the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). We want our students to take advantage of all the grants, loans, and work-study opportunities available to them. We are located on first floor in the Foote-Hilyer Administration Center with a counseling staff that is ready and eager to assist navigating through the financial aid process.

Thank you for selecting Florida A&M University as your school of choice. We look forward to assisting you.

Check Your Aid Status

All students receiving financial aid are responsible for keeping track of their aid file and awards through iRattler, including providing information still needed to complete their financial aid file. Use your "iRattler" and review your student center page to find out if your financial aid file is complete or if you have outstanding requirements that will prevent the disbursement of your financial aid.

 Expect Financial Aid E-Mails

Check your FAMMail e-mail frequently for important financial aid correspondence. The Office of Financial Aid (OFA) uses email as the primary way to communicate with financial aid applicants and recipients. To view your Financial Aid Representative, please click here.

OFA also generates e-mails directly from your aid file to alert you of the requirements you have yet to complete.
Types of financial aid e-mails include:

  • Financial Aid Awards and Revised Awards
  • Financial Aid Follow-Up Letters
  • Direct Loans Correspondence (e.g. Entrance Counseling)
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress Notifications
  • Verification Notifications
  • Requests for Additional Documentation
  • Financial Aid Priority Dates and Deadlines

Email Policy
Please Note: Under Florida Law, email addresses are public records. If you do not want your email address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to the university. Instead, contact the specific office or individual by phone or in writing.

2020-2021 Financial Aid FAFSA Update

If you need financial aid to help assist you with college expenses, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2020-2021 FAFSA is now available.
To complete application, click here

2020-2021 NON-FILER!
The federal government now requires independent students and the parents of dependent students who filed a FAFSA to have the IRS verify, if no tax return was filed. If you are a parent of a dependent student or an Independent student and did not file a 2018 tax return, you must request a Verification of Non-Filing Letter from the IRS and submit the letter as part of your financial aid verification materials. For more information on non-filing letters, see the IRS Transcript Types Web page.

The 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available as of October 1, and you can use your 2018 tax information to complete the application!

If you are required to submit documentation for verification (check your To-Do List) here are some useful tips to help you - The US Department of Education has announced that you must submit a copy of the 2018 IRS tax return transcript for verification documentation if you have not complete the Data Retrieval Tool. This is in effect for the 2020-2021 verification requirements. (Click here for transcript request)

Students who have not filed taxes, you must provide a signed non-filer statement found on the Financial Aid Website under Forms and Publications, certifying that you have not filed and are not required to file a 2018 income tax return, as well as a document listing the amount and sources of any income from that year. You must also submit a copy of your W-2 for any source of employment from that year.
